You know the expression “time flys”, we all use it. But it’s only when you sit and think about the major milestones and events that you realize how much has happened in that year, what you have really accomplished, how much you have to be thankful for and how much you have really packed into life. My trigger every year is today, October 31… the day Tim died. I’m thankful to have that trigger to really reflect on the year and think about everything that has happened in the past year, the people I love most, and the things I have accomplished. It’s always emotional to do, but a blessing none the less to force myself to take some time and really document what has happened in the last 365 days.

My Short List:

• Celebrated 9 years of marriage with my beautiful wife
• Introduced our new puppy, Ari the Golden, to the world
• Started 2 new companies (CarlSays and Carazel)
• Built and Launched a giant campaign for Jason Aldean
• Signed huge new companies at change:healthcare
• Finished (mostly) our house remodeling (and here, and here)
• Moved my brother from CA to TN
• Had a Snuggie Christmas
• Help start the Jumpstart Foundry Microfund
• Built new relationships with amazing friends
• Explored Tennessee and are proud to call it home
• Survived the Great Flood of Nashville
• Had multiple San Francisco people visit us in TN
• Ran a 5k Race and a 1/2 Marathon (results & pics)
• Visited San Francisco, Chicago, New York, Georgia, Alabama and Indiana
• Went on a cruise with my wife and brother
• Gave up cable. Learned to relax. Smiled a lot.
• Took pride in knowing Tim McGovern, and remembering him
• … and SO MUCH MORE! (I could prolly double this list easily)

I encourage you to find one day a year to sit back and just think about what all you have done, and what you have to be thankful for. I miss Tim every day, but am glad he gave me the gift of learning to reflect and be thankful. I miss you buddy.

MSNBC Nightly News just published a story on the price variability between cities all across the country, something change:healthcare has been trying to spread the word about for years! Check out this great 2 minute video (embedded below) that describes the scenario pretty well!

Just found this video commercial from when I was working at PodShow. It was a lot of fun to be a part of (even though I was just behind the scenes). This I believe was for GoDaddy UK in cooperation with Mevio in the UK. The video is the “I want to be a GoDaddy Guy” spoof and features Candice Michelle, the GoDaddy Girl. Enjoy!

Well, the news is official now. I left Mevio about 5 weeks ago to move back home to Nashville, TN and to start a new career…this time, in healthcare.

Through my early days of podcasting I was extremely fortunate to meet tons of great people. But in 2005 I was contacted by a gentleman by the name of Christopher Parks. At that time he was just a lowly podcaster to me (jab), host of a show called the BizCast (don’t look for it, you won’t find it. He pulled all the links down). Turns out he had a lot more to offer to the world than just a small town business podcast.

Christopher started the company I now work for as Product Manger, change:healthcare, out of frustration with the healthcare industry, and all the medical bills resulting from both of his parents unanticipated deaths within 1 year of each other. While this seems like a sad story (with no disrespect to Christopher or his family), it truly is a blessing to Americans everywhere who struggle with healthcare, related costs and confusion every single day of their lives. Because of this tragic event, Christopher was driven to make sure no one had to suffer through the confusion of paperwork, rejections and health jargon while dealing with sick and dying loved ones like he did.

You will no doubt hear more and more about this rising star, change:healthcare, in the coming months & years. We are growing explosively, releasing robust bill management tools and helping people save TONS OF MONEY on their healthcare costs every single day. But I will save the details for a later post.

For now, let me just say I am proud to be working with this company. They epitomize everything a company should strive to be: energetic, proud of their offering, revolutionary in their product and services, leaders in their field, and making a difference that is monumental to the growth and education of our nation as a whole.

What started as a joke years ago at PodShow has now become a tradition at Mevio. If you are unlucky enough to find an error or 404 page on the Mevio.com website you will find the back of my head not looking back at you. We have had a number of different versions of these over the years within the company for some reason. It’s sad that I look forward to the site crashing and burning to get a good laugh at the images that show up that we have forgotten about.

Thanks to a few of the people (jawbone, sue, bryn) who made me a living error.

Today we launched the new hosted channels on the Mevio site, something we are testing out. The first test example can be seen on the homepage of Mevio.com, or through the widget below. If you are fan of Adam Curry from the Mtv days, you will appreciate the classic “toss to a video” he flawlessly performs between each of the clips from the TeXtra Channel.

A few of the folks at the office got together and made a video to show the rest of the company at a todays Fubar. FYI, this Fubar is something we have every few weeks for the company employees to get together, have some drinks, enjoy each others company and to spread recent news and new features throughout the departments. Usually a department makes a presentation (and tries to out do the others) and I thought this one was hilarious, but then again, I am a bit biased. It was shot and edited by the one and only, Nick (yeah, my brother). It was just a quick shoot and edit, but it made the whole office laugh.

There is no denying the fact that my wife, Amy Mac, kicks some serious ass. To prove it I would like to present the details to you. She is on TiVo. Need I say more?! If you own a TiVo purchased in the last couple of years you can now access Amy Mac’s Fit Life (from PodShow) on your TiVo box. The photo is the night it happened… Amy Mac watching Amy Mac on TiVo (it was too funny not to take the photo).

Anyway, if you own a TiVo there are a few different ways to find the programming. But Basically, this is the deal…

How to Get Amy Mac (Fit Life) on Your TiVo:

1. Push the TiVo button on your remote
2. Click on “Find Programs”
3. Click on “Download TV & Movies”
4. Click on “PodShowTV”
5. Click on “Fit Life with Amy Mac”

That’s it! From this point, I recommend that you get a season pass so it will automatically download the episodes when they are published. Enjoy, and congratulations to my wifey!

I will keep this one short and to the point. Alden Rocks. On her album, Snapshot, she wrote the music, played the guitar and sings as well. Her sound is sexy and warm and is that “feel good” kind of music that helps you put a bit of faith back in humanity just by listening. This is the album I put on when the stress starts getting to me… it soothes me and makes me smile in an instant.

Well it seems Amy and I may have become comfortable with our stress level here in California. So instead of relaxing a bit or taking a vacation or …. well … doing anything normal, we decided to kick it up a notch. We recently invested in a small video production studio. What are we going to be recording and producing? Who knows. We will start with a few new podcasts and work our way up from there. Let the fun begin. Again. I Love IT! Some people are so smart.

Advertisers are slowly discovering the potential of Google Maps, and some, like the Target store above (more at Google Sightseeing), are even enjoying some unexpected windfall. Poynter Online talks about realtors tapping into satellite imaging tools. Google Maps Mania is running a log on map hacks, some of them by businesses.

Theres nothing like waking up in the morning and starting your walk to the office and finding a man who has just taken a shit on the sidewalk now using a stick to write his name with it. He was so focused that he did not notice anyone walking by.

Good news is…we moved to our new office… and thats sweet.

Well, the PME has come and gone. I had a lot of scotch and at the same time got a chance to meet the who’s who of the podcasting world. Everyone from Libsyn, to the guys at AMP, most of my favorite podcasters, The Podcast Pickle, and as the photo shows…Dawn and Drew.
